Today I outlined how I want to use this blog:

Journal for short daily notes about learning and progress

Projects for longer write-ups of software and hardware experiments

An About page that explains who I am and what I’m working on

Next steps: publish the site somewhere and automate deployments from my Git repo.

This project documents how I created a terminal-style blog using Hugo and the Terminal theme.

Stack:

Hugo (extended)

Terminal theme by panr

Linux development environment

Milestones:

Install Hugo and verify the extended build.

Initialize a new site (
hugo new site myblog
).

Add the Terminal theme under
themes/terminal
.

Configure
hugo.toml
with the theme and menu.

Create
journal
and
projects
sections with sample content.

Today I set up my new Hugo site using the Terminal theme on my Linux machine.

The main goals were:

Install Hugo (extended)

Create a new blog project

Wire up the Terminal theme

Prepare sections for journal entries and project updates

Everything is running locally, and I can already see the retro terminal styling on the homepage.

My homelab is my safe space.

This is my attempt at a blog to share what I learn with anyone who may be interested.

If you’re nerd and have questions, ideas, or just want to connect, contact me on LinkedIn!

I enjoy using technology to solve complex problems. I explore and discover new tips tools and techniques. I record the struggled and successes of my efforts in notes or wiki pages. Building on previous efforts and sharing with others is very rewarding.
